GlossaryNebulosus

Species

Nebulosus

nebulosus

Definition

A cloud species describing a cloud that is a featureless mist or veil with no distinguishable detail. It applies to cirrostratus and stratus, precisely the two genera that have no elements to describe.

Field note

Nebulosus is the species you record when a cloud is so uniform there is nothing else to say. For cirrostratus, the halo is still the operative observation even when the cloud itself is featureless.
